Seasons of Love

Summer

Stolen glances, secret smiles
The warmth of a first crush
The thrill that shoots through your spine
Every time your fingers brush.

It is shy, a little naïve,
Wears its heart on its sleeve
One word can make or break it
Or so it tends to believe!

Though full of warmth, it is but young,
And its roots have not yet taken hold
So, we shall have to wait to discover
How it fares when the weather grows cold!

Monsoon

Thunder and lightning, loud and flashy,
Full of passion, it is bright and bold!
A whirlwind of wild days and nights,
Expensive gifts wrapped in gold.

But, when the icy cold begins to seep in
Will these suffice for it to sustain
When lust fades and allure wanes
Will the spark of love still remain?

The story is not finished yet
For it still remains to be seen
Whether this romance shall survive
When leaves turn brown from green.

Autumn

It is quiet, a solid presence,
That has stayed through the years,
Like a bosom friend, it has now learnt,
All your dreams and fears.

The smiles are now knowing,
The glances, a little more fond,
Speaking of the beautiful memories,
That have forged this inseparable bond.

It is familiar and you are filled with warmth,
Holding on tight to this love you've found,
Oh, but whatever will you do
When it is no longer around?

Spring

When all seems bleak and you are lost
A flicker of hope still stays
Assuring through the darkest nights
That there will be better days.

Grief and anger have now faded away
And acceptance has taken their place.
We may find each other someday
Or love might wear a new face.

Then with clear eyes, you spring forward
With new expectations and lessons gained
Towards another season, another love,
That patiently waits to be attained.

The Thread of Hope

The path ahead stretches dark,  Where the monster awaits eagerly! Hold your sword in an iron grip And tighter yet, this thread, warrior thee! As you unfurl the string, behold the maze,  Where beginning and end are lost to sight, Built to confuse, trap, and devour the naive, Be certain to hold on with all your might! Step into it with your head held high, Do not be scared, for the beast senses fear! Bravery, the true weapon of a warrior, Hold it in your heart as you draw near! There, listen, the roar of the beast! Even as your blood freezes in fright, Oh Warrior, remember to never turn back! Hold on to your sword, and prepare to fight! As the fiend spots you and draws closer, With glowing eyes, dark as Death's, Soldier thee, never surrender, Hold your gaze as you glimpse at its depths! There a tear, here a slash, charge ahead And battle the beast clawing at you! When pain creeps in and blood gushes out,  Hold on, the way out is through! When the beast lays slai...

This Too Shall Pass!

This too, shall pass! A raging fear or a flicker of faith, A desperation to hold on to, Or an overwhelming urge to let go; The need to cling on to the memories, Or for once, to just forget and move on; It's time slipping past your fingers  As the darkness closes in, Or hope of a new dawn; The tides ebb and flow,  And yet, they wait for none. There's always a win,  There's always a loss,  Still, the game goes on. Despite the highs and lows,  And everything in between,  We hold on, we let go,  This too, shall pass!  -Pavithra Seshadri
